I have to admit that I was a little reluctant. My smart, but sometimes tech-nerdy(I am not even sure that is a term) husband wanted me to try this system out. Right now I am in the process of trying to organize my very eclectic homeschooling plans. By early next week I would like to hand in my notice of intent form to the board of education. I am not too worried about what I have to include (curricula wise), but I am putting the pressure on me to know what I need to teach 2 of my children. Basically I want, and need to order things, get the material in my hands, and PLAN!!!!!!

So here is the site ... www.mindjet.com You can get a free 21 day trial. The idea is that I can visually and logically organize ideas, information and resources. IT IS COOL!!!!!!! My husband is actually utilizing this program for his work (manufacturing). He is loving it!

My roommate and I once: took a road trip to another college and slept in some strangers room (ahhhhhh, the thought that I did that!)

Never in my life have I: ran for a political position. I still have no desire to, but the interest in politics has grown a bit.

High school was: a mix of good and bad. I did have some good friends, but I can only recall 2 teachers that I loved. The highlights were swim team and seeing my future husband in the halls and in our classrooms.

when I'm nervous: I get a bad stomach and some anxiety
My hair: is my best feature ... it usually behaves, is a good color (even when I don't highlight), and it almost never frizzes.

When I was 5: I learned to read WELL. My head has been in the books ever since.

When I turn my head left: I see {M} watching Arthur (on TV) on the couch.

I should be: combing {B}'s hair. WE need to leave for VBS soon.

By this time next year: I hope to have more peace and tranquility ... I can dream right?

My favorite aunt is: still living in her same house (for more than 55 years) on Long Island , NY

I have a hard time understanding: why people would use drugs and RUIN their lives.

You know I like you if: I e-mail or call you.

My ideal breakfast is: good coffee, Norwegian Rice Lappers, French Toast, "good" bagels ... not the kind you find herein AR, and fresh fruit. OF COURSE, not all at once ... LOL!

If you visit my home town: You might be surprised. I don't think I come across as a girl from Brooklyn .

If you spend the night at my house: You will be well taken care of ... I prepare well. The house will be clean, and there will be way too much food!

My favorite blonde is: {M} ... she is my "true" blondie!

My favorite brunette is: my sister Heleen

The animal I would like to see flying besides birds: I don't like flying things that much. Butterflies and some birds are okay, but many bugs creep me out.

I shouldn't have been: up that late last night because I am very tired this morning.

Last night I: did laundry (it never ends in my house), wrote an email to my sister, and talked with my husband.

A better name for me would be: ????, not sure what this would be. I will tell you that my older brother said that my Mom wanted to name me Tracy. That name does not fit me ... LOL!

I've been told I look like: some average people walking on the street. People usually mistake me for someone they know. I guess I have a common look. As far as I know, I do not look like any celebrity.

If I could have any car, it would be: I actually enjoy driving my YUKON XL with leather, heated seats. It suits me.

Embarrassing moment of yesterday ...

While standing at the register at TARGET,,carefully checking to make sure the sale items rung up properly, my 7 year old says ... "WHAT'S THIS?" (really, REALLY LOUD) At the same time she is holding this up (taken from my purse) for all to see ...

If this would have happened to me a few years back, I would have been mortified, but I just can't get all upset over something like that anymore. There are way more embarrassing things that happen in my life.

Focus girl ... just FOCUS!

Some days it feels that if I do not have my planner or list in hand, I am all over the place. My mind is scattered and things either don't get done, or certain things DO get done that I had never planned. As I have gotten older it really has become worse. Usually I blame it on the fact that I have 5 children, lots of activities, and many responsibilities. OR... maybe it is just an age thing

An old friend from NJ sent this to me in an email. I thought it was quite fitting and couldn't help but to feel a small sense of relief knowing that I AM NOT ALONE ;)

AAADD- KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.

Somehow I feel better,even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -

Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,

I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,

I notice mail on the porch table that

I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,

put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,

and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back

on the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think,

since I'm going to be near the mailbox

when I take out the garbage anyway,

I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table,

and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,

so I go inside the house to my desk where

I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks,

but first I need to push the Coke aside

so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Coke is getting warm,

and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,

a vase of flowers on the counter

catches my eye--they need water.
I put the Coke on the counter and

discover my reading glasses that

I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,

but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,

fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.

Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,

I'll be looking for the remote,

but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,

so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,

but first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers,

but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table,

get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to

remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,

I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all darn day,

and I'm really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem,

and I'll try to get some help for it,

but first I'll check my e-mail....

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

Some comforting WORDS ...

Taken from 'the onion dome" ...With my Dad's recent death, this really touched me ... thank you.

The pain of suffering is such a great mystery. But within this mystery is a great gift. In our fallen state we are divided and our minds race off in a countless number of directions. Even at prayer, when we should be focused on God, we constantly struggle to quiet our minds and are unable to allow them to descend into our hearts. But when we suffer, the mind centers on the pain of our heart and it is there that we encounter God. When we’re in the midst of pain we are single-minded and all the distractions that seemed so important evaporate into the nothingness that they truly are.

A prayer in the midst of pain is not a distracted prayer. Things such as what we will wear or eat are no longer important. The usual distractions of how someone annoyed us or how we appear to others is suddenly foreign to our minds. We are in the present, the only moment that we ever truly have. To be fully present, to be undistracted, to have our minds centered in our hearts, this is the gift of pain.

“Why does God allow us to suffer?” asks the one without faith. Because through our suffering He can get our attention for just long enough to shower us with His grace.

I feel like I just got a new job!

I know that I really didn't, but taking on the responsibility of 2 of my children's education full time, feels a bit like a new job. All this is exciting, but a little scary too. I am one of those people that worry a lot BEFORE, but once I dive in, things are never as hard as I thought. Hopefully homeschooling will be the same ;)

This summer will definitely be a BUSY ONE!!!!!
