This one from {B} ...
- a flashlight that really works, not like the one on the floor
- a light bulb for my fan (light)
- a stuffed bear that is soft like my dog and my kitty
1. I can get some batteries to make her flashlight work
2. a light bulb from the garage to make the fan light brighter
3. in that stuffed animal closet, I know there is a bear in there.
and one from {C} ...
She has an amazing vocabulary. Lately she gets a lot of what she wants because she is by far my most polite child ... always a please (Peez), thank you (tank yuuuu), or your welcome (ya' welcome). Recently she has become quite fond of marshmallows. Who am I kidding ... she LOVES them! Anyway, she came to me with her snack cup, and I gave her a few marshmallows. A few minutes later she came back AGAIN with her cup. I said "No, you will get a belly boo boo" to which she replied "I say peeeeeezzzzzz!". How could I say no (blushing)? I gave her a few more marshmallows, and she walked away saying "tank yuuu, ya' welcome".
Love my girls!
5 girls all under the age of 12 walked by my house this afternoon. I did not speak to them, but Scott did. Apparently there are 12 children who just moved into a house down the street from me. ALL OF THEM ARE HOMESCHOOLED. I may just have to bake some yummy chocolate chip cookies and bring them over to them. There has to be some "potential" friends in the bunch!
Today was a good day. When I unload my inner most secrets I always feel better. Today was a family day at a swim meet ... long, long day. {E} and {K} are now in two different age brackets. So now meets take place all morning and afternoon. {K} did awesome ... she really is a natural ( got a 1st overall in breast and just blew the competition away). Poor {E} moved up to the 12/u and is now at a disadvantage with her age. Despite that, she did a great job with her times ... took seconds off. I am proud!
I bought myself a T-shirt (at the swim meet) today. Not sure the last time I did something like that. IT reads ...
swim mom (swim mahm) n. 1. One who spends her life in an automobile driving to and from the pool. 2. The person who attends every swim meet and sits for five hours to watch you swim for two minutes. 3. The only person at the pool who can see that you did the stroke, turn, or start perfectly and should not be DQ'ed. 4. The one who always has the dry towel and the perfect snack. 5. The person who loves you win or lose.
I just thought it was a great t-shirt and made me realize how much I love the fact that my girls are excelling at a sport that I loved ,and that I participated in. What a proud Mommy I am!
With just our family and no planned activities. Most of our Saturday and Sunday's are filled, but for some reason or another ... QUIET WEEKEND. Because of this, Scott and I decided that it would also be a "no friends" weekend. I feel like we are always inviting someone to our house and I wasn't in the mood to watch other people's children.
Saturday we had a nice lazy morning, worked on the yard, cleaned up the garage, played outside, ran a few errands, and went out to dinner as a family. Later on Scott and I had a little wine, and caught up with Grey's Anatomy.
Sunday we got up and moved a bit more quickly. I had decided that I wanted to take some pictures of the girls at an old mill called OLD MILL (LOL!). It is a pretty popular spot around here for photographers. We got there by 11am ... next time I will try to get there earlier because a crowd started to show. Scott took most of the pictures. He played around a lot with the manual settings on our camera. He even brought the tri-pod with us for a family picture. I am really happy with the photos. Come late fall, I will probably head back there to try and get a Christmas photo shot.
I am feeling content ...
- Scott is fully on board with our homeschooling decision. He is starting to see all the potential benefits. I have also noticed how he has really been "educating" the girls more. I think it is his way of preparing for the change. Knowing that we could possibly be moving again , maybe after this school year ... it makes sense!
- After such a nice weekend, I will be happy to not have all the anxiety associated with school next year. I look forward to having all my girls home and learning with me. It will be exciting and challenging.
- It will also be nice to not have to adhere to the school's calendar next year. I look forward to visiting our family more and maybe getting a vacation in at a time when we normally would not.
I feel GOOD!
What was the highlight of your summer?
